Here are some other websites
I've found that I think you'll also enjoy...
Want
to learn more about APRS and packet radio? Your first stop should
be the Tuscon Amateur Packet Radio website,
which has extensive reference information... including an FTP download
area where you can find the latest APRS software revisions.
TAPR also hosts several Special Interest Groups dealing with APRS.
The
Marple-Newtown
Amateur Radio Club serves the western suburbs of Philadelphia and sponsors
a voice repeater (K3MN/R) in Newtown Square, PA on 442.25 MHz. Meetings
are usually held on the first Thursday of each month at 1900 local time
at the Gauntlett Community Center on West Chester Pike (PA Rt. 3) near
Media Line Road in Newtown Square, and of course, visitors are always welcome.
I'm also a member of
the
Mid-Atlantic Amateur Radio Club,
which sponsors the WB3JOE 147.06 MHz repeater. MARC meets at the
Radnor Public Library in Wayne, PA on the third Thursday of each month
at 1930 local time.
"Y100...
Philadelphia's New Music Alternative" Proud to be locally-owned
and operated, WPLY (100.3 MHz) supports the mission of Amateur Radio
by providing prime space for several ham repeaters at the Y100 antenna
tower in Newtown Square. It's also a good place to work! Along
with my assistant engineer Rhian, N3ZMG, I handle WPLY's technical
operations... so, basically, we have fun AND get paid for it. For
the best of today's rock, listen to Y100 live in stereo (20 kbps Real Audio)
at broadcast.com
I'm
currently serving as the chair and webmaster of Chapter 18 of the Society
of Broadcast Engineers. Learn more about SBE activities in the
Philadelphia area by visiting our local Chapter
18 website. Meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday
of each month (except July and August) and non-members are welcome.
The Radio Club of America
has the distinction of being the World's First Radio Communications
Society, and its members have included many industry pioneers.
Recently, I joined this group and hope to contribute to its educational
mission by developing an "FM
ARCHIVE" on the Internet.
I'm also affiliated with
the Association of Federal Communications
Consulting Engineers, a professional group headquartered in Washington,
DC.
No
ham radio website would be complete without the obligatory link to the
ARRL
home page. I don't always agree with their politics, but you'll have
to admit "The League" puts out a good magazine and some excellent books
(that's how I learned most of this radio stuff.) Besides, their lobbying
efforts have been responsible for a generous allocation of amateur spectrum
here in the US (compared with many other countries.) The "A-dubble-R-L"
website contains a lot of useful and timely information, too.
