The WAE contest has an intersting twist with the unique addition of the QTC feature.  A QTC is a piece of information containing the time, call, and serial number from another QSO.  It adds a flavor of traffic handling to the contest format.  European contestants get extra points for receiving QTCs and others get points for sending them.  You are allowed to send up to 10 QTCs to any one station.

I originally started in this running of the WAE for a casual effort to hand out QSOs to the serious participants and to keep my ears in tune for my own serious efforts.  I got so wrapped up in it that I decided I was going to make a more determined attempt.  Several other commmitments took some time through the weekend, so I was unable to make a strong showing.  I did, however, thoroughly enjoy my time while I could participate.

I entered my log into an Excel spreadsheet, ran some calculations and produced an interesting graph of my progress over the contest period.  This kind of data will be a useful study for my next WAE contest. Click on the image for a larger version.

The graph shows the growth in QSOs, Mults, and Score over time.  It also shows the rate for the past 10 QSOs at each point and the band I was on at the time.  It's easy to see how my numerous off periods hurt my score.  You can also see how my decent runs produced a lot of QSOs.  You can see how fast my score shot up during those times.

The evening hours were tough with my poor low-band antennas and low power.  I was also tired from a difficult week, so I didn't have a lot of energy to fight the evening contitions.  Off to bed, I went!

Thanks to everyone for the QSOs!
