Biography

I was born in 1944 and was first licensed as a novice in 1994 as KB3BDA. I upgraded to advanced and my call was changed to KF3BE and later changed my call to K3GV after upgrading to extra. I am a retired hospital pharmacist. I received my Bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1967 and subsequently studied for my Master's degree at the University of Maryland. I have served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary were I achieved the rank of Captain an retired after 17 years of service. I have lived in Maryland since 1967 where I am a member of the Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) and the National Capitol DX Association (NCDXA) and the International Pharmacists Ham Group (IPHG).
I am an active contester and DXer. I spend most of my time on ssb and occasionally operate cw. My station consists of a Yaesu FT-1000MP and an FL-7000 amplifier. I have a single 42-foot tower that supports a 3-element Yagi with a 40-meter add-on. I also have an Inverted-V Dipole for 80M and a vertical antenna.
In 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 I operated a DXpedition as K3GV/VY2 from NA-029 Prince Edward Island (CIA PE001) in the Canadian Maritimes.
