160 Top-Loaded Vertical
This is the actual antenna, with some
photos of the feedpoint, antenna itself
and generally funny details.
As you can see, it is a haywire! The coax is on
the left of the shot, with the Center feeding the
twinlead (which is twisted together). The Shield
of the coax connects to the ground clamp, as
well as the 8 radials. The visible ground rod is only
2' in or so, but the large silver cable you see
attaches to the REAL ground rod (8' down).
Here's a poor shot of the antenna itself. The center
is about 45' up. As in the diagram, the ends droop
down, so what you see is about 66' of wire total,
and each end is another 33' hanging down from
the end supports.
Well - nothing really special. However I think if
you are short on space, but want to try 160 -
give this a shot. You'll need a GOOD tuner to
handle the voltage that will be present, but
if you have that - it really does work very
well.
