This transceiver is the latest 2010 offering from Tony Parks KB9YIG. I was dragging my feet on this one, but I
decided to build it up for "show and tell" at AU2010. It has no direct UHF/VHF application, but I built one to
play with on HF and then built another one for 15/12/10m. These are fully "connectorized", so no more flying
leads. This kit is offered with components to build for any band group 160, 80/40, 30/20/17 or 15/12/10m. The
Ensemble has DC isolation between the Si570 / USB controller and the rest of the RxTx. The computer interface
and paddles are handled via USB now, no serial connections any longer.
As with the other RxTx Softrocks, this is a 1watt transceiver. The mode of operation is only dependent upon
the SDR software selected for use. Rocky 3.6 is the easiest to use, but is limited to CW and PSK31 transmit
even though to offers USB/LSB receive. With the Si570 based LO, the transceiver can be operated anywhere in
the amateur frequency allocations.
