10. Comments:
a. MEDIC ATV Initiative - This project has been canceled due to lack of funding
and the use of a commercial grade technology that will fill the gap.
b. CMPD Command Post Initiative - K4KAY and W4OH met with CMPD Command Post
representatives to discuss installing amateur radio communication equipment in
the new command post room at the LEC. This room is under construction and will
be one of two potential EOC locations during emergency situations. W4OH is
coming up with a project plan, equipment list and initial cost estimate for the
cabling changes that are required to complete this project. K4KAY will be the
installation lead on this project which is scheduled to occur in August 2003. A
follow up meeting for additional measurements will occur in June 2003 on site at
the LEC.
c. KE4IYH attended the State EOC meeting in Raleigh on April 12, 2003. Steve is our newest Assistant Emergency Coordinator in Mecklenburg County and attended in place of W4OH who had a scheduling conflict.
d. A new packet node CLTAU is now active on 145.05 the Charlotte LAN frequency thanks for KE4IYH and KD4GCF. Several new packeteers have been spotted on frequency and we appreciate the usage! Keep up the good work all. Future plans are to replace the CLT location at Duke Power by moving it to a tower on Clanton road where the 444.950 repeater is located. W4OH and KE4IYH are coordinating with W1WBT on a date to do a site visit to determine installation needs. We hope to locate the antenna for the node at around the 150 foot level on the tower to provide a centeralized solid communications quality node for the Mecklenburg area. We are also in need of a new node in the University area. W4OH will be approaching W4YN or K4KAY in the near future about potentially installing a packet node at either of their repeater sites.
