What is expected from the Area-11 DEC

This is what the group at the Area-11 brought up doing their Saturday (1/24/09) meeting.  This is the last Area-11 meeting that I will be the last meeting that I will be the main a presenter. Welcome aboard DEC Russell Beck (KE4AEX) I will be there as an observer and as a guest.  Of course I will have something to say at the meeting that I attend; maybe, a topic on other Areas in the Western Branch.

Please let me know if I missed anything here on these notes.  I had everything, said written down at the meeting but the dog ate it.  He appears to like paper vs dog food.

Monthly report when sent to the DEC the sender should get and E-mail reply Yes if the DEC received the e-mail.  DEC should only send request for monthly reports from EC’s that have not responded.

When the DEC folds up the information to Paul ( KD4OZI) the EC would like a copy of the folded up  report sent to the EC’s.  This will allow them to stay abreast of what other counties are doing, they may try in their own County.

Emergencies – If a county is under an emergency they will call the DEC to let them know what is going on in their county.   If they are requesting help then the DEC should follow through calling other EC from other Counties that may need to help.  They do not expect the DEC to call them back to check their status unless he has a report of more ARES members that have committed to help our.  If the EC has questions they will call the DEC for advice.  EC during emergencies are extremely busy and don’t want to be bothered my answer un related pone calls.

See about getting FEMA classed in our county so that we can have our ARES members to attend.

DEC need to know locations of all EOC centers address location and map.  This should be available for all counties see and print so when the EC need folks at their EOC center.  This would be useful for their new ARES member as well as the EC’s in other Counties. It should also contain the type of equipment that is normally used.  HF, 2-meter, 440 and packet.  This should also have repeaters frequency for primary and the back frequencies.  If a tone is required.  Frequency that the county uses for simplex.
This should be available to all EC’s and their ARES members.
