Comments: EC\'s NOT REPORTING
Alexander
Alleghany
Wilkes
Reasons unknown at this time.

I apologize for the delay in sending the report, I have had some computer issues which I relayed to Paul a few days ago.

Rowan County ARES is preparing to operate Field Day from within the EH Dole Red Cross chapter this year, special event call N4T has been secured for this purpose.

In addition to the Rowan Cnty ARES doing their thing, I hope to have some things in place so the COML candidates can get some items checked off in their workbooks. This will mean running this as if it were an actual activation and that ARES is staffing the Red Cross EOC and dealing with comms.  Should prove quite interesting.  So far the plan is to run 2 hour operational periods.  As far as the ARES side goes, this shouldnt be an issue, and the plan right now is to have the Rowan County Mobile Operations Command bus onsite from 1400 to 1800 or so for a show and tell.

The biggest issue known right now AREA wide is the LACK OF COMMUNICATION from EC\'s on events going on in their counties.  If we cant handle letting someone know that their group is doing an event before it happens, how in the hell can anyone be expected to operate from an EOC or other location with professionalism and accuracy???  I feel this is a concern that needs to be addressed from the TOP of the chain.  With the ease of the internet and email, sending a notice of a scheduled event to both their neighboring EC\'s as well as the DEC is quite simple.

During the month of April, I completed the course for the RADO, now have to get my workbook checked off before its totally complete.  I highly recommend that anyone who can take the class.  Also I am scheduled to take the AUXCOMM class on 19-21 May 2011 at the Charlotte Fire Training Center.  Will let you know how that works out when completed.

Respectfully and apologetically,

Gary H. Lang

Comments: Net Report was relayed to me by David Funderburke, who is an AEC and Net Manager.

Union County ARES lost a member April 17, 2011. Jack Barbera, KF4KNL became a SK.
Search for EC of Union County, full of dead ends. I have talked with both Bob DeWitt, AEC
and David Funderburke and neither of them are having much luck finding anyone to step up in
the roll.

Bob lives out of the county for part of the year and David Funderburke\\\'s job would not allow
him to have the roll as he would be called into work in an emergency.

I have talked to several people who seem interested, until I explain the requirements, then
I never hear back. Will keep trying and keep you posted.

On April 27-28th, we narrowly avoided severe weather. The same system that devastated Alabama and Georgia passed thru approx. 0130 on the morning of the 28th with rotation indicated overhead, luckily it did not reach the ground as it did in Georgia. Areas surrounding reported seeing a funnel cloud in the sky.
This past week I have been working on printing a recruitment mailing for all licensed amateurs in Transylvania County. They should go out next week and hopefully drum up some support and more resources for TCARES!!
