Yaesu Repeater special offer for Clubs.
Yes the repeater is a dual band with Yaesu's digital mode called Fusion. The repeater operates both analog and digital at the same time. Fusion is not the bee's knees like Icom's D-Star is but if your Club needs a new repeater this maybe the one to looks at.
Not sure when the ending date is? $500 is less than 1/3 the regular price.

Hello everyone,
Before I discuss the Centennial QP, let me say that if you are normally at work in the morning but have time off during the holidays, I invite you to check in to the North Carolina Morning Net, 3927 kHz at 7:45 AM. We are always grateful to have visitors aWe have some that check in almost every day and others we only hear a few times a year, but ALL are welcome! I am the regular NCS on Fridays, and the net runs every day of the year. We handle business first and then have an informal session afterwards, much like we do on NCEN.
If you don't care anything about the Centennial QSO Party, then skip the rest of this as it is a bit long-winded. I hope you have a great holiday and look forward to our next net QSO.
The ARRL Centennial QSO Party ends at 0000Z January 1st (7 PM EST Wednesday) and my travel schedule probably won't allow me to check into any more nets after Friday morning until 2015 ("maybe" Sunday morning but not sure). I have all the points I need, but some of you might still be chasing them. As a PSM I am worth a lot of points, and get some requests, so...
If you are still seeking points for the ARRL Centennial QSO Party, I think your last chance to work me for points will be Friday morning during or immediately after the North Carolina Morning Net.
As a Past Section Manager, I am worth 100 points for each QSO on a different band/mode. No exchange is required. Your check-in to the net on Friday counts as a QSO with me, and
I can upload the QSO data to Logbook of the World if you wish (but please TELL me you want that as I usually do not upload net QSOs), or send you a QSL card, or both. No SASE is needed, just tell me you want a QSL card and I'll mail it on January 2nd. If you stay after the net, I can give you an extra 2 points from the affiliated club callsign W4FNC, for a total of 102 points. I can upload LoTW and/or QSL for that callsign also.
Unfortunately, no PSHR or SAR points for this, unless checking into the net adds to your PSHR totals.
If you want to work me on other bands or modes, e-mail me and we will schedule that, if we can.
Finally, whether you have an ARRL appointment or just support us through your membership or participation, I am grateful you are here, points or otherwise. It takes a lot of hams to make a working National Traffic System.

NEW LONDON - Dr. Daniel Eddins Kirk, 90, of New London, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.
Dan, was a wonderful person and fun to be around at any of our K4OGB Club functions in Stanly County. Dan was an expert in many different fields and one of Dan’s hobbies including Amateur Radio. My special time with Dan was on Field Day events. I always volunteered to work night time on Field Day. Long night were my thoughts until Dan (the man) showed up as our C.W. relief operator.
Dan start time normally was 4 a.m. but he normally showed up early. His equipment was already there except for his Vibroplex key, he normally carried his (old) key to our events. In my mind, C.W. was Dan’s claim to fame he was so fast compared to my 13 wpm speed I
could not keep up with Dan speed. It was like music to my ears. One year, our Field Day was at Morrow Mountain State Park, the outside gates were locked by the Park Ranger at 9 p.m.. Those that showed up after 9 would call us on 2 meters and we would go to the bottom
of the mountain and shuttle them to the top of the mountain. Dan normally notify us by radio on his arrival but this year no Dan, must
have over slept? Dan’s age at this time was in his early 80’s and who should walk in to out Field Day camp on top of the Mountain?
“Our man” Dan, he walked up the mountain, his radio was at his house. Dan said it was easier for him to walk to the top then to go
home and get his radio. Dan will always be remembered by those of us that knew him. I hope to see Dan one day on the Mountain Top,
he will probably have a virbroplex key doing C.W. but rest a sure that he will be making contacts..

Eddins KirkNEW LONDON - Dr. Daniel Eddins Kirk, 90, of New London, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.
Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Rocky Mount, he was the son of the late Jones Ezra Kirk and Cora Eddins Kirk. He was a member of Palmerville Baptist Church until it dissolved, at which time he became a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School. He was an active volunteer of Stanly County Red Cross, Hospice of Stanly County, a volunteer instructor with the Hunter Safety course in Stanly County.
He was married to the late Ruth McCoy Kirk, who preceded him in death on March 13, 1998. He is survived by one son, Paul Daniel Kirk and wife Sara of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, Emily Kirk Chapman and husband Gary of Atlanta, Ga., and Adele Marie Kirk and husband Lawrence Hughes of Washington, D.C.; and two granddaughters, Rachel Kirk and Emma Kirk of Gainesville, Fla. A daughter, Martha Palmer Kirk, preceded him in death on June 24, 1990; two brothers also preceded him in death, Edgar Kirk and James Palmer Kirk.
Dr. Kirk served in the U.S. Navy on a PT boat (323) during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
His educational career started with an undergraduate degree in Biology from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. He received his master's degree in botany from University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, then his Doctorate of Philosophy in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. He taught at Furman University before becoming a biology professor at Catawba College in Salisbury in 1957. He served as an Academic Dean part of his time there until he retired in 1989.
Arrangements: A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m., at Anderson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Palmerville Cemetery with fully military rites by Stanly County DAV. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Memorials: May be made to North Carolina Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.

Morganton Meeting October 29th.
Start off with sorry that I’m late sending this out. Seems like I left the meeting and boom, Thanksgiving has passed.
Overview: Forty folks attended the meeting from 18 Counties from North Carolina and one out of state person from Kentucky.
County’s attending were Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba. Chatham, Cherokee, Clay, Haywood, Henderson,
Lincoln, Macon, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Stanly, Wake, and Watauga County.
A very good meeting presentation by Tom (N4TAB) and team on the Viper system. Our Section Manager Karl (W4CHX) was in
attendance. During Field Day he was not Coast to Coast but definitely County to County in the Western Branch. The two counties
that had the longest journey to Morganton was Wake County 205 miles and Clay County 174 miles. Thanks to those that made the
long trip from Wake and Clay County.
I have received several responses from those that attended the meeting.
Responses:
1. Need more meeting like this one with hands on.
2. Like the interaction from meeting the people that attended the meeting.
3. Hand on will help us during n real Emergency with our County
Emergency Manager.
4. Maybe something on packet for next year.
5. Morganton seems to be the most central location.
So here is your chance.
