Chief Michael Henry Quint

Litchfield Fire Department Fire Chief Michael Henry Quint, 62, of Litchfield died at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012. 

Local visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Additional visitation were from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Kutis Funeral Home in Mehlville, MO. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Kutis Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Stein of Grace Baptist Church in Muncie, IN, officiating.

Burial was in the Huffman-McKelvey Cemetery in Buckhorn, MO.

Mr. Quint was born in St. Louis on April 19, 1950, the son of the late William H. and Ruth G. (Bratton) Quint. He married Victoria Ann Huffman in Kirkwood, MO, on March 16, 1991, and she survives.

He graduated from Bayless High School in St. Louis and later obtained his bachelor of music degree from the University of Missouri in St. Louis, master of music degree from SIU Edwardsville and bachelor of fire science degree from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Quint began his fire service career with the Gardenville Fire District, and his volunteer fire service included High Ridge Fire in Missouri and 15 years with the Prairie du Pont Fire District. He was a fire instructor at the St. Louis Fire Academy for many years.

From his deputy fire chief position at the city of Rock Hill  he moved to Watertown, WI, to accept an assistant fire chief position in 2002. In May 2009, he attained the designation  of executive fire officer from the National Fire Academy. This past year, he attained his life career goal as fire chief of the Litchfield Fire Department.

A member of the Musicians Local 2-197 in St. Louis, Mr. Quint  touched many lives through his teaching French horn at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and Maranantha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI.

He enjoyed model railroading and was a member of the Executive Fire Officer's Association.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Quint is survived by two stepdaughters, Karen Rieser of Fenton, MO, and Cathy (husband Ryan) Miller of Louisiana, MO; grandson, Riley Reiser of Louisiana, MO; brother, Patrick (wife Rhonda) Quint of Columbia; sister-in-law, Barbara Quint of Columbia;  stepmother, Gwitha (husband Pat) Quint of Cedar Hill, MO; and numerous other extended family members,

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Quint.
