Greetings to all of our members and readers, and we hope you are enjoying a good summer. It has been a wet one so far, the western and some northern parts of the state experienced flooding. And the rest of us can't seem to keep our lawns mowed. Let's hope you are dry.
There is news to report here and there throughout the state. On the
Lakeshore, Red, N9GHE from Manitowoc reports he is ready to sell his home
and move north to Three Lakes and enjoy his retirement. This means that
the N9GHE BBS and Nodestack is up for sale. Unless a buyer and operator
can be found, this stack may very well go off the air, leaving a gap in
the network between Algoma and Sheboygan.
This would effectively isolate the central Wisconsin and Fox River
Valley networks from the Lakeshore. If you would like to contact Red concerning
this stack and have E-Mail, try sending a message to:

There's another BBS that has temporarily gone away. The Waupaca BBS, KB9QWC is now off the air in anticipation of a move to Oshkosh. In addition to the BBS, Oshkosh would get a full node stack to serve the Winnebago County area, operated by Greg KB9SZP. As of right now, details are still being nailed down. As soon as I know more, we'll report it here.
In the last issue, I mentioned that the summer WAPR meeting is in the planning stages. Apparently, we suferred a minor setback in our plans and we'll have to find another place to hold the meeting. You recall from the last news report, this is an important meeting that will focus on electing new officers. Our current chairman, Joel Papke N9BQM, has announced that he will not seek another term. Ditto for WAPR treasurer Al Schnepf, N0GMJ. I also mentioned that it may not be a bad idea to get different person involved in the secretary's position, which I currently hold. Perhaps someone else can bring a new perspective and new features to this space we have in the BSSS? When we do have the meeting worked out, do look for the announcement on your local BBS, or at the WAPR web site. We'll get the word out in whatever way we can.
Last time I also mentioned that our WAPR web site has a new address - (the old one may work for a while yet). The new URL is:

One recent addition to the web site is the WAPR bandplan. It was revised from a very old copy, so there may be additions and corrections needed. If you do come across some errors, please let me know through the mail link on the site.
