What a GREAT Hamfest that was! Lots of people, lots of fun toys. Someday I’ll be able to bring myself to forgive those three that won the raffle. (Hihi) Thanks to all involved in their coordination of the 2005 Hamfest, I know it’s not a simple task. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
The Avista Q&A re:BPL had an attendance of 17 amateurs besides Brent Schlangen and Bill Wadkins (WB7UCI). In order to inspire questions, Brent had prepared a presentation and handed out copies so we had information to take with us. Multiple people expressed interest in the FCC Report and Order. Brent promised that I would mail that out to everyone at the meeting, I consider it an important document that is valuable to everyone wanting to learn about BPL.
Here is the URL for the actual PDF – You’ll need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to open it. The size is just shy of 500k, so it shouldn’t take too long to download even with dial-up.

The specific sections that would be of primary concern as discussed by Brent are:
And as Brent said, if you are having trouble sleeping, start on page one - It’s sure to put you down for the count!
Avista has not yet signed a contract with the vendor, so the name is still being kept private. Once the contract is signed, Avista plans on having another meeting to discuss the specifics with the Amateur Community in their service territory. I’m looking for a large room either far East valley Washington (Liberty Lake/Newman Lake) or even somewhere in Post Falls, ID. I want amateurs from both Washington and Idaho to be able to come to the meeting without having to bear the brunt of the driving. If you have any suggestions, please reply to this email and I will discuss it with you. I want to be able to seat around 200, and I’m really hoping for a bigger turnout than the last one. As soon as I know about the specifics, I will let each of you know. I’m hoping to put it a month in advance to give folks the chance to make arrangements to be there.
Thanks as always for caring about our hobby and passion!
