JW7FJA
QTH:
The qth of 2000/2001/2002
expeditions was in the club cabin of JW5E.
It’s located 2 meters from the
ocean in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen, and well equipped for radio. Kenwood TS-440/Icom 751 + PA, and a 5 elm.,
3 band Fritzel up on a 100 feet tower.
Also wire antennas for other bands.
Here I must submit that the use of PA is not needed. We used one rig on warc band at the same
time, instead of PA. 2 times 100watts
with small interference trouble.
AWARDS:
Spitsbergen is the name of the
main Island in the Svalbard group, EU-026 for IOTA. For WALA hunters I can inform that a confirmed contact can count
instead of one of the three northern counties in Norway (Nordland, Troms or
Finnmark). For WANCA the code is P-04.
INFO:
It’s possible to rent the club
station, please see on their own internet site.
3 or 4 hours with plane from Oslo
airport, Gardermoen. Depending on if it’s a direct route or stop in
Tromsø. To show the beauty of the
island there is a photo taken outside the airport, in Bjørndalen.
