My Name is Gianluca.
I live in a town called Cesena
about fourty km north from Republic of S.Marino and about twenty
km west from Adriatic coast.
I decided to become
OM on 1993, when together with my friend (IK4WMH) decided to make exam.
A
year later (30 June 1994) I was IW4DJV and began my OM activity.
I bought a Kenwood TR-751E
and a Tonna
FT 17 for
2 meters band... But on this band I was not very active, infact
since today I have worked only 15 DXCC country and only 56 italian
provinces.
On 1995 I married and had a son (Mattia)
and my activity stopped completely; some obvious problems did
not give me the possibility to continue to operate.
For
two years and half I did not make any qso... but on 1997, after
some weeks of planning and a check to my savings, I took the important
decision to operate on six meters band, because italian authorities
gave to the italian OM the possibility to operate from 50.000
to 51.000 Mhz.
I bought an Icom IC-706 MKI
and built a five elements
yagi for six with a home
made tower of about six meters over my roof shed. Since today I have worked
101 DXCC
country with 85 of
them confirmed and continue to operate (when it's possible) on this crazy and
beautiful band.
All of the electronic aspects are
interesting for me, and I'm very happy when I can project and
build, something which I could use.
