Le prime notizie di questo borgo medioevale risalgono al 980, quando il feudo apparteneva al Vescovo di Parma. Il Castello venne ricostruito più volte dai Della Rosa, dai Boschetti, dai Borsari. Al borgo, circondato da un circuito murario, si accede tramite un portale in pietra arenaria e laterizio; all'interno sorge il Palazzo signorile affiancato dall'alta torre squadrata e dalla chiesa parrocchiale di S.Pietro che risale al 1860. All'interno delle mura si trova il Parco al quale si accede dalla torre rondonaia posta vicino al parcheggio.

MONTEGIBBIO CASTLE

The first mention of this medieval settlement dates from 980, when the feudal overload was the Bishop of Parma. The Castle was rebuilt on several occasions by the Della Rosa, Boschetti and Borsari families. Access to the fortified hamlet is through a sandstone and brick gateway in its walls; on the inside, the nobleman's house stands between the tall, square tower and the parish church of S. Pietro, which dates from 1860. The park, reached through the medieval tower next to the car-park, is also inside the walls.
