MY STORY

Hi everybody, my name is Giancarlo. I have been using radio since 1972, first because of my job then to work italian stations with a TOKAY PW 5024 5 watts in AM and a mobile antenna In 1983 I entered the G.R.I. Alfa Tango and begun my Dx activity on the 11 mt. band .Dx has always been my preferred activity as I have always been fashinated by the longdistances your voice can run and be heard so far. Moreover I like to observe the propagation behaviour. As a result of this passion I decided to get the license.First I got the special license (only vhf allowed).With the call IW4BZU I ran many contest in a portable station.In 1990 I obtained the full license with the call IK4QIB and I started my HF activity on all the band from 10 to 160 mt Up to now I have worked 331 Dxcc countries in SSB. I got the 5BDXCC, the IOTA award, the WAZ, the WAIP and others awards. I took part in many world contests with the special calls IO4IB and IO4I where I got good results considering my working conditions.I have also won some lower contest but the satisfaction has been great.Thank you for reading this short intoduction.
