The GRID
CHALLENGE - three simple, essential rules:
1) QSO's on any HF band, in any mode, made since 1 January 2000
2) Grid Squares determined "to the best of your knowledge" (see
note 1 below)
3) No QSL's required (see note 2 below)
1) Grid
Hunting, like any other form of DX'ing, should be a gentlemen's affair.
The difference is that, with the Grid Challenge, cheating is easier. Yes -
you can go to the top of the list by submitting totally or partially fake
results. If this is to your satisfaction, if this meets your standards of
fairness and your sense of honor, please go ahead. And, yes - you
can claim credit for Grid Squares that you are not entirely sure of. That
also depends on your sense of integrity, and on how much you value fierce
but fair competition with your peers.
2) Grid Hunting is about spending quality time on the radio, not at the
Post Office. A Grid Square-based "Top List" has been published
for the last twenty years by the legendary VHF-UHF-Microwaves German
magazine Dubus Communications, effectively becoming the reference
for weak signals enthusiasts. No QSL's are required there - no QSL's are
required for the Grid Challenge. All the fairness and integrity
considerations made in note 1 apply. However, to show appreciation
for the hard work of those who are into QSL'ing, we will make a special
mention of the amateurs whose Grid Squares are ALL CONFRMED.
Yes, I have understood the rules and
principles of the Grid Challenge and I intend to submit
my results.
