Italian Air Force (Regia Aeronautica)radio set nomenclatures:

All radio sets built according an Air Force specification had an official type name. Inspite this official system often the name used has been the manufacturer type.

Official nomenclature


TRANSMITTERS


A + Number / Number. Where A = Aviazione (Aviation), Number = Input power, /Number = set type. Some times the number 2 is indicated by latin word "Bis" and number 3 with "Ter". Different numnber or word means different set.
AT + Number. Where AT = Aviazione Terra (Aviation Ground)+ Power
t + radio station type = Transmitting section of the mentioned set.
i.e.:
A 80 = Aviation transmitter 80 W input
AT 800 = Ground transmitter 800 W input
tB 30 = Transmitter set of the B 30 radio station

RECEIVERS


AR + Number. Where A = Aviation, R = Receiver, Number = Type
ARC + Number = Aviation Receiver for Fighter (Caccia)
r + radio station type = Receiving section of the mentioned set.
i.e.
AR 8 = Aviation receiver n. 8
ARC 1 = Aviation Receiver for fighter n. 1
rB 30 = Receiver section of the B 30 radio station

RADIO STATIONS


B + Number. B = Board set + Input power
RT + Number. RT = Ground station + Transmitter Input power
i.e.

B 30 = Board radio station 30 W input
RT 300 = Ground radio station, Transmitter power 300 W

OTHERS


Interphone = A + Number indicating the development year
Direction finding = RGM or BG + Number indicating the development year
Where RGM = RadioGonioMetro and BG = Goniometro di Bordo
