======================================================================

You should have the following
    BUTTONS.TXT This file.
    BUTTONS.EXE The main program
BUTTONS.XTR The "Extra's" file for Winpack V6.4 or above.
BUTTONS.ICO The ICON file for winpack V6.4 or above.
WINPLOG.BUT Three .BUT ID files for my own applications.
    WINPMAIL.BUT
    WINPCAPT.BUT

BUTTONS has come about because a number of people commented to me that
there are now a lot of "Extra's" about for Winpack. Some people are
having a problem getting all the buttons on the button bar in Winpack.

This little application will replace up to eight of those buttons
with a single button.

It also shows the next AUTO-BBS session time just below the buttons on
the bar. If you do not have any AUTO-BBS times set then session time
will not show.

If you change the AUTO-BBS times with the SELECTION LIST EDITOR the
time shown on the BUTTON bar will update in about one minute.

INSTALLATION
------------

Be careful when installing BUTTONS.

1) Make a new directory under the WINPACK root directory called
BUTTONS <=========== Make sure you get the spelling correct.
                                BUTTONS with an 'S'

2) For Every EXTRA that you want to run from BUTTONS you need a
file in the BUTTONS directory. These files work in the same
way as the XTR files in Winpack but they DO NOT HAVE THE SAME
        FORMAT.

You can have up to eight applications on BUTTONS.

Any line starting with a colon (;) is a comment and will be
        ignored.

There must be three working lines, they are:

NAME= <=== This is the name that you want to see under the
                button.
PROG= <=== This is the name of the program you want this
button to run. It MUST be in the Winpack root
                directory.
ICON= <=== This is the name of the ICON you want on the
button. It must be in the WINPACK\ICON directory.

The position of the working lines in the .BUT file is
irrelevant, and being upper or lower case makes no difference.

I have included three .BUT files for my own applications in
this ZIP file for you to use if you wish.

3) Put BUTTONS.EXE in the WINPACK root directory.

4) Put the BUTTONS.XTR file in the WINPACK root directory.

5) Put the BUTTONS.ICO in the WINPACK\ICON directory.

6) Move the .XTR files for the applications that you want to
appear on BUTTONS out of the Winpack root directory. It may
be best not to delete them in case you want them again at a
later date. I have put mine in the WINPACK\BUTTONS directory.
They will not effect the operation of BUTTONS.

Now re-boot Winpack.

You should now no longer have the buttons on the Winpack button bar
that you want on BUTTONS, but you should have a new button for
BUTTONS.(!)

If you have left the third line in BUTTONS.XTR as TRUE then BUTTONS
will have started up automatically and will be seen in the centre of
the screen if all has been installed correctly.

If you have set the third line in BUTTONS.XTR to FALSE then you will
need to click the new BUTTON on the Winpack button bar. The bar will
appear and will have an icon on each button for each application that
you have put a .BUT file in the WINPACK\BUTTONS directory for. It will
also show the name of the application under the button. If you have
an error message then read it carefully as it should give you a clue
as to what you have done wrong.

You can drag BUTTONS anywhere you wish on the screen by putting the
mouse pointer over the small blue bar on the right hand side and
holding the left mouse button down as you move the mouse.

If you still have the application buttons on the WINPACK button bar as
well, then you have not removed the .XTR files for the application
from the WINPACK root directory.

Now you can click a button to run your application as before.

When you start BUTTONS it will position itself where you placed it when
you last closed it down.

WOW! there's a lot of buttons around here!! :-)

Version 1.03 fixes the problem with WINDOWS 3.1 and 3.11 where the next
autoBBS session time would get stuck at the first time in the AUTOTIME.TXT.
