FACILITIES
The ACAS operates a well-equipped club station in the Main Building of virtually all
modes and interests to its members. Equipment is available for HF and VHF/UHF operation
using CW (Morse Code), SSB, FM and Packet Radio. Operating interests include DXing,
contesting, satellite communications, etc.
The Club Room is located behind the cafeteria in the Main Building, in room H-613.
Access is controlled.
The Club Room consists primarily of two operating positions:
- an HF Station
- a VHF/UHF Station
The HF Station consists of a Ten-Tec Paragon Transceiver and a Ten-Tec 422 Linear
Amplifier and a Drake SPR-4 Receiver. Accessories include: microphone, Daiwa SWR-Meter.
The VHF/UHF Station consists of an Icom IC-821H all mode dual-band
(2m/70cm)Transceiver. Acecessories include: microphone, speaker, TNC2H 9k6 baud Packet
Radio Modem.
Three antenna systems are currently deployed on the roof of the Main Building.
The HF-System consists of a Hy-Gain TH5/MK2 beam (20, 15, 10 meter) approximately 16
feet above the roof and a C&S Antennas LFH330 Dipol (80, 40 meter). The beam may be
rotated using the Hy-Gain Ham IV rotator. The control box/indicator is located in the Club
Room H-613 next to the HF Station.
The UHF/VHF System consists of a Diamond X5000 (2 m, 70 cm, 23 cm) vertical antenna.
The 2m/70cm Satellite antenna system consists of a 2 meter Flexayagi FX-224 and a 70 cm
Flexayagi FX-7056. Both antennnas are mounted on a common beam and may be rotated in
azimuth and elevation. (Presently inoperable)
The rotator is a Kenpro KR 5600 B. The control box/indicator is located in the H-613
Club Station next to the VHF/UHF Station. Antenna azimuth and elevation may be under
manual or computer control.
The following equipment is is available for loan to ACAS members for use at home or
special events:
