Wideband vertical antennas, Rybakov 806, G8JNJ vertical
I love playing around with HAM antennas, especially multiband wire or GP antennas. Building is fun and educational since I learn quite a few things along the way. These multiband antennas are normally expensive on HAM market. My favourite is portable GP style although the vertical HF antennas tend to pickup a lot more static noise than dipole or yagi antennas.
The classic Rybakov antenna configuration is a 7.6m long wire fed through a 4:1 UNUN.The length is not critical, as long as you avoid resonance on the bands of interest. It is often supported by a telescopic fishing pole.
It had been a few years since I built my Rybakov antenna for portable use so I decided to find a new one for broadband. There are many sites which solution for wide band antenna provide. My goal was to find one which does not require a tuner, is simple and cost effective to construct and better than, other similar sized multi-band antennas. I found useful information on Martin, g8jnj website.
