MkI 70MHz Transceiver               GW4RWR

Prototype radio, built in 2009. VXO, two xtals 11.88 and 11.91 x 5 (not so clever), and 10.7 IF.

The cabinet is galvanised steel, so tough as old boots. Covers are brushed steel. Inside 'floor', with IF below, and RF side above. Separated rear compartment for the PA rear panel to bolt on to. Many of the components were removed for the mark II, except for the fake chromium centred, black knobs, which felt almost sharp to the finger. Nasty things. I also abandoned the 'Jones' socket. It was intended for compatibility with my Yaesu radios, but it's a cumbersome design.

This was horribly untidy inside. Rat's nest. And those knobs had sharp edges; I actually had sore fingers from them. Awful things.
