The shack of GW4KFD

Here is a photograph of my Shack !

My main rig is an Icom IC706 MkII and my usual operating modes are PSK31 - RTTY - SSTV and the Antennas are a G2DYM Trapped Dipole for 40 and 80 meters, then a Cobwebb for 10, 12, 15, 18, 20 Meters mounted in the loft of the bungalow. For VHF bands I have a tribander covering 70cm, 2m, and 6m.

The shack fortunately has 3 computers at present, the Radio operating one is a Pentium-S 133Mhz with 132Meg RAM and 2.1Gig Hard Drive. My main computer is an ADM6x2-400Mhz with 132Meg RAM and a 20Gig Hard Drive. The third computer is an HP Omnibook XE2 which is used in the shack as my Logbook.

For PSK31 I have tried most of the currently available software but have now settled on the NEW version of Digipan V1.5 which has the very useful twin screen. For RTTY I am using TruTTY on my soundcard.

The latest addition to the shack is a RIGBLASTER from West Mountain Radio in USA.

This very usefull piece of equipment will connect your rig to the computer without any fuss also supplied is a CD full of usefull software for digital modes. There is a good review on the Keyboard Comms page of the December 2000 edition of Practical Wireless.
