PHILIPS SSB 220 Transmit-Receive Frequency Programming Instructions. July 2005

 

PHILIPS SSB 220 is a 2 MHz - 23 MHz in 100 Hz steps 90 channel SSB TX-RX LSB-USB .
150 watts PEP for up to 30 minutes continuous use.
13.6 volts 
2 Amp Receive
11 Amp Transmit
45 MHz 1st IF.
6.4 MHz 2nd IF.
 
FIRST
Set the radio to PROGRAM MODE before adding channel frequency  information.
So :--
Press 
8 (SEVEN TIMES)
Then enter Password which is "56" by pressing
5 6  ENT within 4 seconds.
(If you press no keys within 20secs the display will revert to the emergency channel and you will have to start again).

To program Transmit Frequency:--
Press
9 9 ENT it will show MAX CH?
(KEY IN THE NUMBER OF CHANNELS REQUIRED UP TO 90)  e.g. 1 2
Then press ENT and  display will show STORED.
Then it will display CHAN?
Key in channel number to be programmed
e.g. 
1
Then press  ENT  and  display will show TX FREQ?
Key in Transmit frequency e.g.  3 6 8 7 . 4 (KHz)
Then press ENT
Then the display prompts for Operating Mode
Display will show
A3H?
Just press ENT for A3J mode
or Press key
1 and then ENT for A3H mode. (USB or LSB )
Then display will show 
RX FREQ ?

 
To program Receive Frequency:--
For simplex frequency, same as your Transmit Frequency above
Just Press 
ENT.
Display will show 
STORED
Then  it will show
CHAN  #?
For a different Receive Frequency to the Transmit Frequency
Just type in the required Receive Frequency
Then press
ENT and the display will show STORED.
 
Reprogramming channels ALREADY PROGRAMMED with frequency information.
G
et into programming mode as in the first paragraph
Key in Chan Number to be modified.
The display will say
CHANFULL
Press key
6 it will say TX FREQ?
Then follow above prog procedure..
 
DEFAULT CHANNEL 0 is the EMERGENCY CHANNEL.
This channel can be reprogrammed but if erased will revert to 2.182khz as standard.
 
I do hope this will help you to program the SSB 220 OK
 
But the manual does STATE THAT these above program instructions apply to field programmable radios ONLY
If the set has production programmed preset channels in it then it therefore will not be programmable by a customer.
If you have tried to program the E2 prom yourself, you may have to erase it first in order to field programme as above?
