Improving TH75E toneburst convenience ===================================== The Kenwood TH75E dual band hand held is a good rig, but the tone-burst button on the main keypad is inconveniently located. With the aid of the technical manual a rather simple mod has been made so that the 'monitor' or squelch defeat button at the side of the rig now acts as a tone-burst button instead. This is more convenient since repeaters can now be accessed with one hand. The mod involves making a connection between pin 53 of the CPU (after the 1K resistor chip) to the second connection from the right on the PTT switch board (removing the original connection first, of course). This puts the 'mon' button in parallel with the original button. The 'monitor' squelch defeat capability is now disabled but is no loss. It's a very simple mod to make, since there is a small 'fan out' pad from the CPU to solder to. 73 Greg G4CUI @ GB7DAD (Downloaded from GB7SYP)
