IC720A faults ============= LOW RF OUTPUT : The PA transistors on his rig seem to be very reliable. The fault is usually the driver transistors (2SC1945) which are located on the board on the right when the top is removed. NO TX : Check R108 (2R2) in series with the TX 9v switching transistor. NO TX AND NO RX : Check R115 (2R2) in series with the 9 volt regulator transistor. LOW SENSITIVITY : If this is worse when the attenuator is switched out, then check Q1 and Q2 (2SK125) the RF amp transistors. RX SENSITIVITY DROPS WHEN BAND CHANGED : Check for dirty contacts on the solenoid operated band switch. GENERAL COVERAGE TX MODIFICATION : Locate plug P2 (which plugs into J10) at the back of the main unit. The light blue wire going to this plug is the MUTE wire - cut and insulate it. TRANSVERTER CONNECTION : On some units it may be neccessary to change an internal plug to get the required signal out of the transverter socket, refer to pages 22 + 23 of the manual.
