ICOM IC-255E FOR PACKET RADIO ============================= The IC-255 will work FB for packet radio provided that you use low impedance into the tx AF circuit (mike-input has 1k ohm resistor to plus 12v) so impedance in AFSK should be 600 ohm or less to avoid noise from +12v line. On RX use the output from ext. spkr with 100 ohm connected across the jack, or as I have done; connect a wire from ext spkr output to a spare pin at the mike-socket for AF, and connect a 100 ohm resistor across the ext-spkr jack - which is plugged into the transceiver for packet radio - such that no audio noise will be heard in the shack. AF output from rx seems to be low, so I use the AF gain turned fully clockwise for my KPC-2 with AF-interface (to monitor AF-level). Adjust TX mod and RX-AF to proper levels. 73 Jan-martin LA8AK (Downloaded from GB7SYP)
