FT767GX audio for packet ======================== It says in the FT-767GX Operating Manual: "DATA IN/OUT is a 3-contact mini stereo jack which allows direct connection to the FM receiver demodulator and FM transmitter modulator, for digital terminal equipment such as a packet radio TNC on VHF or UHF. No pre- or de-emphasis is added to the signals at this jack." Nice idea, but it's not true. TX audio is "quite" direct, but RX side is fed from the final audio amp output. Therefore the signal goes through all the "bad" stages such as de-emphasis, squelch, volume and tone controls. It isn't nice audio for packet and it's uncomfortable if you have to listen to all the traffic from the loudspeaker too. You get a much better signal from the AUDIO-OUT jack. If you want the "purest", not de-emphasized signal, you'll get it from FM detector Q1007. Use a cap and an op-amp to get it out from there. 73 Jukka OH2BUA @ OH2RBA (Downloaded from GB7SYP)
