The QUAICH
THE HOLY GRAIL OF THE IOSA CHASER ..For those of you who do not know what a QUAICH is or looks like, the picture above should solve the problem.
It originated in the Highlands of Scotland and was the 'Cup of Welcome' and also the farewell drink.
Originally made from staved wood, horn or leather and eventually silver and pewter it became popular as the favourite drinking cup, throughout the country.
The name comes from the Gaelic word CUACH meaning shallow cup and the design has remained unchanged for centuries. In other words it is a shallow drinking cup with two handles, known in Scotland as 'lugs'.
- The optional IOSA Supreme Quaich,
Is approx. 150mm in diameter and 80mm high. It is inscribed inside with the holder's name, callsign, supreme number and the GMDX logo.
The cost is �40.00 including post and packing.
- The optional Honour Roll Plaque
Is approx. 170mm by 240mm; the black plate is
edged with gold on a walnut backing plate. The black plate is also etched with
the holder's name and callsign, the year awarded, the GMDX and IOSA logos
and an outline map of Scotland all in gold.
The cost is �40.00 including post and packing.
- The optional Eilean Mhor Trophy
Is cast in glass, outlining the shape of Ailsa Craig
CL5 as in the IOSA logo. It is 140 mm high, 135 mm wide and 40 mm in thickness.
It is etched with the GMDX Group logo, the holder's name and callsign, the year
awarded, the trophy number and the name of the trophy.
