My callsign is M0BGS, home QTH Leeds; I am a volunteer 2nd mate with Ocean Youth Club, (status Educational Charity) which takes around 3000 young people (12-24 yrs) to sea for a week at a time on nine large boats based around UK. The picture above is the sister ship of the one I go out which is called Taikoo, is 72 ft. long and has 2 masts.
. I am trying to get OYC and our sailors to see Amateur Radio an a useful addition to a number of voyages in the hope that we can make this into a regular event, visiting different islands, maybe about twice a year.
We are hoping to do something very special for Y2000, but I think it would be premature to hazard a guess at the moment. Anyway, someone else might want to do it, and we'd all turn up at the same time and find there wasn't enough room.........
The Scottish boat, "Taikoo" usually visits St Kilda about twice or three times/year, so we might be able to provide a service to those desperate for Outliers from time to time.
