ISLANDS OF SCOTLAND AWARD (I.O.S.A.)

DIRECTORY ADDENDUM

In response to the ever-increasing interest in the Islands of Scotland Award the Committee are pleased to announce the following additions and changes to the Award directory and rules.

    New Awards

The number of Islands listed in the directory will be increased from 170 to 210 with effect from the 1st January 2001 and the new islands will only be valid from that date. A list of the 40 new islands is available from GM4UZY on application enclosing a S.A.S.E. or the GMDX Group web site.

To allow directory holders old and new advancement in I.O.S.A., a further and final award called the "Islander" is available on application for chasers and swl's having attained 200 two way QSO's with islands listed in the directory. This award is available to activators having submitted logs confirming 135 islands activated. The cost of this certificate only award, which will come into effect on the 1st January 2001, is 5.00 for chasers and swl's and is free to activators. Honour Roll will continue up to 210 islands.

    THE IOSA MILLENNIUM AWARD

This is an annual award, which can be worked for in each calendar year commencing 2001. The first award will be called THE MILLENNIUM 2001 AWARD and it will run from 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2001. The following year it will be THE MILLENNIUM AWARD 2002 and so on. The award will be a certificate and will be the same for each year apart from changing the year on the award.

The purpose of this award is to encourage chasers, activators and swl's to remain active in addition to working for the normal programme awards. It is especially aimed at those who have already gained the higher level awards and should keep an ongoing interest in the IOSA programme.

Non-directory holders are also encouraged to participate and apply for these awards.

  • The working period for each Millennium award will be from 1 January to 31 December each year and roll over of QSO's is not allowed.
  • Chasers must have two-way QSO's with 35 islands in any band or mode, and activators are required to activate 10 islands. There is no restriction on the chosen islands and island groups so they may be ANY islands listed in the IOSA directory.
