Circuit description:
T101 &T102 form the microphone pre-amplifier and phase splitter, which in turn drive the mixer IC101, whilst IC102 forms the local oscillator source for IC101. These two signals, the incoming bat signals and the local oscillator are mixed the product of which is fed via a low pass filter to the audio power amplifier IC103 - thus the ultrasonic bat signals are converted to a lower frequency signal audible to the human ear.
