International Marconi Day (IMD) 21st April 2001 A total of 265 contacts were made using GB4JAM on IMD this year. Equipment used :- Yaseau FT101ZD providing typically 80 watts into a ¼ wave ground plane vertical for 20m. The base of 20m vertical was 16ft above ground, with 3, ¼ wave ground radials. The antenna was as used in previous years, except not on 2 poles i.e. 32 ft up. Kenwood TS680S providing typically 90 watts into either an ATU, and then long wire (all bands), or a ¼ wave ground plane vertical for 15m. The long wire is 200ft long, average height 15ft above ground, one end about 20ft. The base of 15m vertical is 15ft above ground and has 4, ¼ wave ground radials, but they are next to buildings. Voice on ssb was used. Another unusual station contacted was 3V8SM on Java Isle.
