The gap after 2100 was due to me using the radio for something else. The plot shows nice multiple reflections up to 0500 when something odd happens and they largely stop. I think that the F layer critical frequency must have been just above the observation frequency at 0450.

It is quite hard to differentiate between the E layer and the F layer - it may be that the E layer disappears around 2100 and reforms around 0900 but I cannot be certain.
