G0MJI - 4m Wspr
Notes (2010-2014)
Hello, thank you for finding your
way here.
Wspr on 4m is a little different from Wspr on other
frequencies. This is due to a number of factors, not least
the scarcity of affordable multimode 4m transceivers at this
time. It is a little less 'Plug 'n' Play' than on the other
bands - it takes effort and as such it may not be for
everyone. As ever rumours abound that a new 4m Multimode is
on its way (Okay, the Icom 7100 has arrived at last and is
most welcome as is the Icom 7300.) In the meantime 4m Wspr
remains an interesting challenge. Tougher than HF but
possible if you are patient and wish to learn, it certainly
is not the 'wrong trousers' as it has been portrayed in some
circles.
Here are a few things I have learned whilst trying to put
out a Wspr signal on 70mhz.
I hope to spot you soon...
Update 2016. I am the happy owner of an IC7300. It
has 4m. It also has an issue with 4m Wspr - or at least mine
does. I have
documented this here
