perience necessary, but you will need a call sign and a HT with batteries. This is a great event to help you learn about public service and HAM radio, very low key and fun!!!!
In addition to the parade, there is a road race on Thursday, June 8, 2000. It's a three mile run/walk. I will need a handful of volunteers for this starting a 5:30pm and we will be done by 8pm. There is food here for all the volunteers!!!!! Again, very low key and lots of fun!!!!!
This is one of the ways the club helps the town out in return for the use of the space in the Danforth. We get great exposure with the town and they love us!!! If you are interested in helping out at either of these events, call me at 508-626-2012 home or 508-651-2225 work or e-mail me [email protected]. Thanks.

(Submitted by Jim, N1XAS on the FARA email reflector)

It is a custom in Bosnia to place an advertisement in the local newspaper when someone dies. While we were in Bosnia, Lee and I put an ad in Sarajevo's largest daily newspaper, Dnevni Avaz, on behalf of FARA. The translation is something like:
The Framingham (Mass.) Amateur Radio Association remembers with sadness the tragic death of our friend and club member Samir Durakovic (T99S). We will always remember you.

QSL Card

The FARA email reflector is working well. It provides us with an easy way to reach all our members who have email. You have to sign up so it will reach you, though.
To sign up, send a message to [email protected] with contents "subscribe FraminghamARA-L". (Without the quotes, of course).  The subject can be left blank, the server only looks at the contents of the message.  You'll get back a confirmation, follow its instructions exactly, then you're on the list!

This month's QSL is a custom card from K0DKJ, Dave, in Minnesota. He was one of the 160 contacts I made during the Mass QSO Party a few weeks ago.  Note the bottom of Dave's card which says "A Bad Day Working The Massachusetts QSO Party Beats A Good Day At Work." Now that says it all! I had a great time and have already received many QSL cards from some of the 37 states I worked in my three hours or so of operating the contest. Oh yeh, almost forgot....note the back of Dave's card: "The Three Best Thinks In Life Are Ham Radio, Fishing, Drinking Beer."
