Hi All

We have a training event coming up. It is the Bull Run Run 50 Mile Marathon and it is coming up fast. It is scheduled for April 13 and we will be needing 10-12 ops to support this event. You will need at least a mobile rig and a mobile antenna, talkies wont work, as we will be providing communications using simplex frequencies. This is an excellent training exercise as it lasts all day so we get to see if our batteries and radios will last for up to 10 hours.

We will be staffing 5 aid stations, net control, and the supply truck. This will be an all day event.

The tentative Schedule is:

  • NCS 05:30-18:30
  • Aid 1/2 06:30-9:30
  • Aid 4/11 08:15-17:50
  • Aid 5/10 09:30-17:00
  • Aid 6/9 10:00-16:00
  • Aid 7/8 09:45-15:00
  • Supply Truck (starts at 06:00)

I need everyone that is interested in this event to reply so that we can start the planning. If you have a preference as to locations and times that you are available, please let me know.

We will be running primarly on 2 mtr simplex, but I can also run 440, 220, and 2 mtr SSB if anyone is interested.

Please forward any questions that you have to me.

Hi All

We need a few (3-4) more radio operators for the Bull Run Run 50 that is to be run on Saturday April 13, 2002.

We have needs for an operator that can operate portable, for the supply truck, as well as support for net control and aid stations.

Attached is the latest update for the event. If you are available for part or all of the day, please email me. Keep in mind that this in not a talkie event.

NOTE: If anyone not working the race can set up for a few hours at the Fairfax County Woodburn Operations Center to test VHF/UHF voice/packet coverage for drill purposes, that help provide a public safety interface necessary for SET qualification.
