New Hams of 1999
This year in the Cranbrook/Kimberley area there
was not enough people signed up to put on a Basic
class for new amateurs. There was enough interest
from the wives of our local members for VE7LOC to take charge and put on a class
in his home for these four ladies.
Over a
period of 5 weeks the ladies studied hard.
Meeting once a week with VE7LOC, to get some
"hands on" experience. Also Lance had
homework for all, a quiz, and diagrams to keep
everyone up to date and learning so they could
write the test in a short time. They even made
contact with VE7TED from VE7LOC's station, to get
a taste of what they were working so hard for.
When all were ready Reg VE7OG came out and gave
the exam to the ladies. GOOD news, all four
passed. We now have four new amateurs around
Cranbrook.
The E.K.A.R.
Club would like to thank all who helped out in
putting on this course. Also to congratulate the
ladies, GOOD WORK and welcome to Amateur Radio.
A special
thanks to VE7LOC, VE7OG. Without your help this
would have never happened.
When
all the pressure was off, the exam was over, it
was time to celebrate. A BBQ was held at
VE7LOC's, and a great time was had by all. Below
are photos of the event.
