Minutes of the East Kootenay Amateur Radio Club Tuesday, October 13, 1998 Laurie Junior Secondary School, Cranbrook BC 10 members present, meeting came to order at 19:35

Sick or Injured amateurs: VE7KIJ - SK KD7XD (Bonners Ferry) - Ill

MOTION: To adopt the minutes of the previous meeting as read, VE7CR, seconded VE7LOC. CARRIED

CORRESPONDENCE:

Letter from Eric H. asking re: autopatch

VE7DLW, VE7DZ, VE7HOP, VE7HQC, VE7KPB, VE7MWE, VE7TGA, VE7JFI, VE7WFL, VE7MUT, VE7TNJ, dues outstanding.

MOTION: VE7CR, seconded VE7ESW, that we send $50 to the CancerSociety in memory of Neil, VE7ASE. CARRIED.

OLD BUSINESS:

VE7CRJ Jubilee made the Golden site not required so the paperwork for taking over the site was returned.

VE7CRJ Invermere trunk was attempted and will need fixing, will be done by Sept, 14th.

VE7SKT Libraries in both Cranbrook and Kimberley have "On the Air" magazines on the shelves.

VE7CRJ A new alarm will be installed on Baker Mtn. to indicate when power supply fuse blows.

VE7CRJ Creston repeater status is currently down, and its repair status is not known.

VE7BGO MIR is quiet.

Repeater projects to date required the issue of $1528.69

NEW BUSINESS:

VE7ERG Query regarding the new Industry Canada proposals about fee collection and data on amateurs.

MOTION VE7ERG seconded by VE7LOC that the EKARC write a letter expressing strong disagreement with the Industry Canada proposals regarding elimination of call sign registration and licensing fees. CARRIED.

VE7LOC Lance will bring the video tapes to the next meeting for members to see or borrow.

VE7CRJ Will check with the church on 95a North and Mission-Wycliff road for potential meeting place.

VE7CRJ A ladies only course is being investigated by VE7OG, VE7LOC is willing to help out.

MOTION VE7LOC seconded by VE7PJ that the EKARC attempt to place a small ad or article in the newspaper to determine the level of interest in a course, including VE7LOC's phone number. CARRIED.

VE7CRJ Jamboree on the air is coming up, discussion followed.
