Minutes of Monthly Meeting
held on May 13, 1997 in Kimberley
Meeting called to order by VE7CRJ at 19:40 hrs.
VE7WFL - Lee Wieneche - welcomed as a new HAM to the area. He is from
Port Hardy and is now attending Selkirk Secondary School in Kimberley.
Call for adoption of previous minutes by VE7SKT and seconded by VE7KAX
Reports of Sick or Injured Amateurs:
Correspondence:
- Hydro bill and bank statement
- Information on the Prince George Ham Fest
Old Business:
- Bingos saw an income of $8941.00 for 4 bingos - our season is now over.
- Thanks were given to VE7NEK for his excellent work on the banquet.
- The scheduled spring course has been cancelled due to the lack of participants.
Another attempt will be made again in the fall.
- The childrens festival went very well.
- The Jog and Bike event is scheduled for the 25th of May - VE7TED is
still looking for volunteers.
- Field Day - The Trap & Skeet club have given us club for permission
to use their grounds - though the feeling is that it will once again end
up at VE7CRJ's QTH.
- The donation for the CNIB educational program has been sent.
- As per the Society Act, our books have been audited.
- Tapes for the Code tapes have been purchased and taped by LOC and TED.
Treasuers Report:
- fourty-two members have paid their membership
New Business:
- Bingo Licence for the next two years has been obtained - we have February
and March of 1998 and 1999 - the bingo people estimate that we will gain
$1200.00 per bingo
- There is $2200.00 in the budget to purchase a 3500 watt gas generator
- Mysteriously, reaching out from his death bed (using VE7CRJ as a medium),
VE7OG suggested buying a 2 metre amp for the 706.

VE7SKT put forth a motion, seconded by VE7ESW, that the club purchase
a $300.00 2 metre amp for the 706

VE7TED put forth a motion, seconded by VE7LOC, that VE7TED look
into building a 6m beam vs purchasing a 6 m beam

- VE7CRJ came across a 4-400 and a 813 amp - it would cost around $300.00
to rebuild both. If the club wanted to buy one - we could then resell the
other, recouping much of the cost for parts in the rebuilding process

VE7TED put forth a motion, seconded by VE7KAX, that we purchase
the two amps from CRJ witht he intention of rebuilding and selling one
of the two

- The June meeting will be at George's (VE7ERG) on June 10th
- VE7BGO spoke about how VE7NEK was being credited with saving a life
at Saturday morning coffee!!!
- VE7LOC thanked all who had provided him with assistance over the past
year as he became a new HAM
