MINUTES OF THE E.K.A.R.C.

September 13, 2003.

Held at the Coach House Restaurant, Cranbrook BC.  11 members present. Chair: VE7CRJ

VE7CRG is home from the hospital and doing well

 

MINUTES

MOTION: Adopt the minutes of the previous meeting as circulated.

Moved VE7NEK Seconded VE7EDM. Carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:

            Received the contract from Shaw re: Morrisey tower. There is no charge.

 

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

 

VE7CRJ          Field Day was a success with two stations in operation all night, making

120 contacts on 20m and 40m. Points were not submitted

                        The accordian festival was a parking success with less rush due to the

                        Doors opening earlier.

                        PEP training was put on hold due to the forest fire situation in the area

MOTION:        Adopt the treasurer’s report as circulated.  Moved VE7NEK, Seconded VE7KFR.  CARRIED.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

VE7CRJ          The forest fire situation resulted in local amateurs handling some calls. Amateurs were on standby for assistance. VE7TED, VE7KPB, and VE7CRJ helped with communications at the #2 Fire Hall.

                        Hall Mountain repeater is intermittent and needs work.  VE7CRJ plans repairs before the snow flies.

                        The radio path to the East is good since the replacement of the UHF antenna on Sparwood ridge.

                        Baker Mountain radio system is good.  The repairs to the building are 90% finished.

                        Jubilee radio system has some problems with noise.  The link can be shut off should the noise be a problem.

                        VE7KFR was active with Emergency Social Services the forest fire threat.

                        Creston plans to keep control of their repeater.
