OLD BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

 

VE7SKT     IRLP update included description of the installation of the software.

 

VE7LOC     The new ham radio course, public information meeting Monday Nov. 19th, 7pm , room 105 at Laurie Jr. Secondary.

 

VE7LOC     To use the phone patch, first announce your call and your intention, press 702, (wait for “patch enabled”) then * (star) then wait 5 seconds , then * (star) again upon which a dialtone will be heard.  After completing the call, press # (pound) to disable the patch and sign off.

 

VE7LOC     The proper forms haven’t been filled out yet for approval of the second examiner for our area as yet.

 

VE7LOC     QRM on our repeater has gone away.  The best approach in the future is to ignore them unless intolerable.   Kimberley interference coming in on 146.94 apparently from Monarch Cable mixing with the RCMP frequency.

NEW BUSINESS:

 

VE7LOC     L.I.T.Z. (Long Tone Zero) a simple method to communicate that a priority message will follow.  Press the DTMF “0” (zero) for at least 3 seconds followed by an indentifier and description of the priority situation.  (danger to life & limb, car breakdown etc.)  This will alert listeners that something important needs their attention. 

 

VE7LOC      Our web page has collapsed due to the provider having difficulties and Ken has resurrected it with much effort.  Terry Hickey has kindly donated space on Rockies.net for our site.

 

MOTION:   “A card be sent to Terry Hickey thanking him for his help with our web site, at an appropriate time.”  Moved VE7RWD, Seconded VE7ERG.  CARRID.
