MINUTES OF THE EAST KOOTENAY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

 

Dec. 11th , 2001 Held at the King's Chapel, Highway 95a & Wycliff Rd.   13 members present. 

 

SICK OR INJURED AMATEURS:  Jim, VE7ESV is a silent key.  George VE7ERV is waiting to find out if he needs surgery.

 

MOTION: Adopt the minutes of the previous meeting as read.  Moved VE7EDM, Seconded VE7ERG  Carried..

OLD BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

 

VE7LOC     The Townsman and the Advertiser ads were placed however only 2 persons attended the informational meeting at Laurie School.  Gerry VE7KD, and Russ VE7FA and Lance VE7LOC made presentations to 7 classes in local elementary schools.  Only 1 letter has been sent back seeking information on a ham radio course.  Notification has been given to local emergency services personnel that a course will be offered.

 

VE7LOC     The auxiliary examiner application has been filled out and sent in for Industry Canada approval.

 

VE7LOC     The EKARC web page is still on Crosswinds as we haven’t heard from Rockies.net as to the status of the space for our web page on their server as yet.

MOTION:  Adopt the treasurer's report as read.  Moved VE7NEK, Sec. VE7RWD.  CARRIED.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

VE7LOC     Regarding our hall rental.

 

MOTION:   That the EKARC pay the $120 for hall rental for Sept. to Dec. 2001.  Moved VE7NEK, Seconded VE7ERG.  CARRIED.

 

VE7LOC      The next bingo is in March.  There is a bingo meeting this Thursday which Joe, VE7CRJ will attend and report back for next meeting.

 

VE7LOC               The IRLP node is still being worked on.  Computer troubles are holding things up.

 

VE7CRJ      The phone patch has been upgraded to make the first * (star) unnecessary. 

 

VE7LOC     Everyone is encouraged to bring some news or other information to make the meetings more interesting.  A sharing time will be held at the end of every meeting from now on.
