MINUTES OF THE EAST KOOTENAY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

Apr. 10th, 2002 Held at the King’s Chapel, Highway 95a & Wycliffe Rd.  7 members present.

MOTION: Adopt the corrected minutes of the previous meeting as read.  Moved VE7RWD, Seconded VE7FID.  CARRIED.

OLD BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

 

VE7NEK         The final quote for insurance from the RAC Group carrier came back higher than the local agent.  Moved VE7RWD, Seconded VE7ESW that we support our local agent and get the insurance from Holmes Insurance. Carried

 

VE7CRJ          Bingo Report.  The Bingo on March 30th, went well with 4 members attending.

NEW BUSINESS:

 

VE7NEK         5 people from Canmore are interested in a Basic course if we are interested in putting on a course.  We will wait and see if they are willing to put up the money first then decide whether to put a course on.

 

                        Creston Radio club is on shakey grounds and may want to fold their club and turn over their assets to our club rather than paying dues to two clubs. 

 

                        Two volunteers VE7 LOC and VE7SKT volunteered to audit the books for 2001.

 

                        VE7OG is in the area for a few days and indicated that some surplus equipment may come available as the new radios  are brought into service on FM Narrow band.

VE7KPB put on a very interesting and informative presentation on VHF and UHF communications and propagation.  He had some interesting examples recorded of Meteor Scatter, Earth Moon Earth Bounce, Sporatic E propagation, Aurora Bounce, as well as some new computer techniques that have created a revived interest in the higher bands.
