Laptop, diary, set of napkins (too hot and humid anywhere in Africa!), portable VHF radio, travel iron and my indispensable WFP vest.
Anticipating a glass of cold beer and delicious French-style food after long hard working day. Bukavu, Eastern Congo.
Uvira islocated at the Northern end of lake Tanganyika and facing Bujumbura, Burundi, located on the other side.
Driving 4x4 car from Bukavu to Uvira (Eastern DRC) may take more than 4 hours due to bad road condition. Hoerver, there is an option to make a longer trip via Rwandan territory, whih takes less than 2 hours including time spent for border entry/ exit formalities. This is part of the road across Rwanda.
Unique fishing technique I spotted on the lake Kivu, Eastern Congo. Three boats are attached in a line forming kind of trimaran. Fishing net is stretched between six long wooden poles, three on each side of boats. The rest is a question of dodginess of the crue equilibrating from one boat to another.
