• This page lists the Great Circle maps available on this site.
There are five Great Circle maps available that are centered on Ireland. They were created using the free GcmWin map-creation software by SM3GSJ. The prefixes and other details were added later by me, using the graphics sofware 'Paintshop Pro', the same software that created all the graphics and edited all the photos on this site.

Great Circle maps, also known as Azimuthal Equidsdant, are especially useful to the Radio Amateur as they provide a quick visual guide of the correct direction for antenna orientation, something that cannot be achieved with the normal Mercator-projection map that most people are used to seeing.

Great Circle Map, B&W, centered on Ireland, with a diameter of 28,800 Km. Format = .gif, 333 x 333 pixels. With an actual diameter of 4", this map is designed to be glued under the needle of an antenna-rotator control unit, allowing for quick beam-rotation without consulting a list of tables.
