The Arctic Map

Like the Antarctic map, the Arctic map uses a Polar Stereographic projection. Because of this, no scale bar is available for this map. A pop-up message appears in place of the Scale Bar, if you try to turn it on. You can drag the message around, if you have nothing better to do.

Status Bar: With increasing scale, the information shown on the Status Bar becomes more accurate the further away from the centre you are.

Find a Feature: Because of the complexity of calculating a position with this projection, the Find a Feature page will never locate a feature in the Arctic or Antarctic Maps. Any positions entered for the polar regions will be displayed on the World map.
