Affilated to the Irish Radio Transmitters Society, this Group sets about to assist Interested visually impaired and disabled radio enthusiasts obtain transmitting Licences.
The Group is based at St.Joseph's School for Visually Impaired Boys at Drumcondra in Dublin City and hold a weekly meeting (Monday 8 p.m) Theory and Morse Code classes are held and also a VHF Station is usually on Air, S23 145.575 to facilitate the boys obtain practice in the operation of the radio.
Activities are not confined to the School and inquiries are welcome from those in the greater Dublin area and any location in Ireland.
Facilities include Course material on cassette tape, braille pamplet and computer disks for those who may have voice readout facilities on their PCs. Contact can usually be made with a local radio amateur to supervise a Course of Study for those living outside Dublin.
The Radio Amateur Licensing Authority (ODTR) in Ireland will accept verbal responses to Theory Course questions and also parts of the Code test for those unable to take the written test.
The Irish Radio Transmitters Society has concessionery membership for all White Stick operators and makes Newsletters, Handbooks and Callbooks available on disk free of charge to members.
