Grid squares I have worked on 144MHz ssb in 2003.

Grid squares (not including IL18) worked using only 20 watts pep and a single 8 element Quagi antenna mounted at 35 feet.

My best DX to date : Sporadic E = I8YGZ in JN70HR 2142km : Tropo = EB8AYA in IL18RI 2697km : Aurora = S53J in JN75EV 1783km.
