This is my Boat "Mohawk" a Lochin 33 Sports fisherman, 370hp twin Perkins intercooler turbo diesels, which I operate as a charter angling / work boat out of Cork Harbour the Worlds second biggest natural harbour. ( The R.N.L.I use the Lochin 33 as their Brede class lifeboat.)

A Conger eel of just over 30lbs weight caught in late September 2001 on board Mohawk, It was returned alive to the water  after the photograph was taken! Species caught include : Blue Shark, Conger Eel, Ling, Cod, Pollack, Ray, Coalfish, Wrasse, Dogfish, Whiting, Mackerel & Garfish and many more.

A Blue Shark weighing about 80lbs caught off of Cork harbour on board MV Cuan Ban (38' Aquastar single 350hp turbo Caterpillar diesel engine) one of the boats I used to skipper before I bought MV Mohawk. Blue Shark are weighed tagged released and recorded in a log book with all information sent to the Central Fisheries Board of Ireland for the study of their Migration patterns. They offer a reward for returning the tag with information of weight, date, method and place of capture. Sadly most tags are returned from commercial long lining fishing boats and the blue sharks numbers are decreasing annually.

Three Orca "Killer" Whales, very rare visitors to Cork, right up the north channel of the river Lee in the centre of Cork City in June 2001.The three a male a female and a calf stayed around Cork Harbour for several weeks feeding on shoals of grey Mullet. The Female died in the outer harbour, an autopsy found she died of old age, she was estimated to age around 80 years. The surviving two stayed around 2 miles outside the harbour for 2 weeks after her death before disappearing.
